NEW ORLEANS (AP) – Pelicans general manager presented Anthony Davis with a Western Conference All-Star jersey before tip-off of New Orleans’ game against Indiana Wednesday night.
The question is whether Davis will wear it on the court in New York on Sunday after sitting out the Pelicans’ final two regular season games before the break because of a right shoulder sprain.
Coach Monty Williams says he has reminded the third-year star that he has earned the right to play in the NBA’s marquee mid-season event if he feels well enough by then.
Pelicans forward Quincy Pondexter says the whole locker room is pulling for Davis to play. Pondexter says it’s important for the Pelicans to be represented in the game and they’re confident Davis won’t play unless he’s healthy and there’s minimal risk of injury.
