AP source: McCoy will be ready for Bills season opener

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) A person familiar with the situation tells The Associated Press that Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy will be ready to play in the team’s regular-season opener after he hurt his left hamstring in practice.

The person spoke Wednesday on the condition of anonymity because the Bills have not provided any updates on McCoy’s status a day after he was hurt during a joint practice with Cleveland. McCoy will be listed as week to week and will have enough time to recover before the Bills open the season hosting Indianapolis on Sept. 13, the person said.

Following practice, coach Rex Ryan said trainers informed him the hamstring was intact and had not been pulled off the bone.

On Wednesday, Buffalo signed two free agents, running back Cierre Wood and defensive lineman Red Bryant, a day before playing a preseason game at Cleveland. Buffalo also released tight end Chris Manhertz and cornerback Rod Sweeting.
