INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Clemson linebacker Vic Beasley was Sunday’s big winner at the NFL scouting combine. Southern California’s Leonard Williams was a close second.
Beasley had the fastest time, finishing the 40-yard dash in 4.53 seconds. He also shared the distinction of bench-pressing the most reps, 35, at 225 pounds. The 246-pound Beasley tied 321-pound defensive lineman Deon Simon.
Williams, a 302-pound defensive tackle, clocked a 4.97 seconds in the 40, matching Jameis Winston’s time. He had not lifted.
Among other top prospects, Missouri defensive end Shane Ray put up 21 reps but had not run. Washington nose tackle Danny Shelton had 34 reps and ran a 5.64. Florida linebacker Dante Fowler Jr. ran a 4.60 and had 19 reps while Nebraska linebacker Randy Gregory had a 4.64 and 24 reps.
