KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) Kendrick Ray scored 21 and grabbed 10 rebounds to help Kennesaw State overcome a slow start and pull away late for a 69-59 win over NAIA Thomas (Ga.) on Monday night.
It was Ray’s second consecutive game, and third in the last four, with at least 20 points.
Kennesaw State (3-8) made just 8 of 20 field goals in the first half and went into the break tied at 28.
Adonai Rogers made a layup to put Thomas up 43-39 with 11 minutes left, but the Owls responded with a 16-4 run, including six points from Ray, that gave Kennesaw State a 55-48 lead with 6:48 to play. It was at least a two possession game the rest of the way.
Aubrey Williams scored 11 of his 16 points in the second half and Tracy Hector finished with 12 points for Kennesaw State.
Javoris Cooks led Thomas with 16 points.
