Nevada falls to Louisiana-Lafayette 16-3 in bowl

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) – Chris Bonner threw for 191 yards and a touchdown, Cameron McDondle ran for 113 yards and Colorado State-Pueblo relied on its stingy defense to beat Minnesota State 13-0 on Saturday for its first Division II national championship.

Paul Browning had five catches for 84 yards and the game’s lone touchdown, and Greg O’Donnell bounced back from an early miss to connect on his next two field goals. Pueblo (14-1) held Minnesota State to just 265 yards in posting the first shutout since the 1997 title game.

Ricky Lloyd and Nick Pieruccini shared quarterback duties for the Mavericks (14-1) and neither was particularly effective. Lloyd threw for 99 yards and Pieruccini threw for 61 yards.

Connor Thomas, who had more than 1,300 yards this season, was held to 25 yards rushing.
