Canning earned his first major league win at Detroit on Tuesday, allowing two runs and four hits over 5 1/3 innings while striking out seven in his second career start. The 22-year-old owns 13 strikeouts in 9 2/3 innings but was held under 90 pitches in each of his first two outings. Canning posted a 0.56 ERA in three starts for Triple-A Salt Lake before being recalled.
Means is settling into the Baltimore rotation and held the Boston Red Sox to one run and three hits over seven innings on Monday to earn his third win in his last four outings.
