Daytona International Speedway plans to move the Budweiser Duels to nighttime in 2014.
The two 150-mile qualifying races that determine the starting lineup beyond the front row for the Daytona 500 traditionally have been held on the Thursday afternoon prior to the Great American Race. Next year’s Duels would be held on the night of Feb. 20.
“Moving the Budweiser Duel under the lights will add another dimension to Budweiser Speedweeks,” speedway president Joie Chitwood said in a statement.
The duels will join The Sprint Unlimited and the NextEra Energy Resources 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race as the three prime-time races held during Budweiser Speedweeks.
