Davis slated to return for Pelicans vs. Jazz

NEW ORLEANS (AP) – The New Orleans Pelicans say forward Anthony Davis is expected to return from a chest injury for Tuesday night’s game against the Utah Jazz.

The injury caused Davis to leave last Friday night’s victory over Cleveland in the first quarter and then sit out Sunday night’s overtime loss to Golden State.

Davis, who is averaging 24.3 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.7 blocks, had been listed as questionable before Tuesday’s shoot-around.

Davis went from the arena to a hospital Friday and stayed overnight for a series of scans and tests which came back negative, but he remained sore on Sunday, so the team held him out as a precaution.

Team officials remain unsure what caused the injury, which coach Monty Williams had referred to as a ”freak deal.”
