The Cleveland Cavaliers are off to their worst start since LeBron James’ rookie season and stand as the lone winless team left in the Eastern Conference. The Cavaliers will try to stick one in the win column when they host the division-rival Indiana Pacers on Saturday.

Cleveland played without All-Star forward Kevin Love (foot) on Thursday at Detroit but showed some fight while falling 110-103. “It hurts me to say it was a loss, but there were some positives,” Cavaliers shooting guard Kyle Korver told reporters. “As competitors, we want to win, but I thought there was some good out there tonight. I thought we played with more energy. We passed the ball earlier with the shot clock and kind of got some things going in motion. Scrapped on defense, but it’s hard to win in the NBA.” The Pacers are closing out a three-game trip at Cleveland and earned their first road win of the season with a 116-96 victory at San Antonio on Wednesday. “We’ve just got to build on it,” Indiana guard Victor Oladipo told reporters. “It was a great road win, but it is just one. Obviously, we can take some good things from it and take some bad things and learn from it, but overall it was a great win.”

ABOUT THE PACERS (3-2): Indiana is trying to find a rhythm offensively based on moving the ball and watched the unselfishness pay off in Wednesday’s win. “Our goal each night is to get 25-plus assists,” Pacers coach Nate McMillan told reporters. “(Wednesday), we had 34. When we’re moving the ball like that and sharing the ball, and no one cares who is scoring, everybody gets involved and it’s a beautiful game to watch.” Oladipo handed out nine of those 34 assists while recording his fourth straight 20-point game with 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting.

ABOUT THE CAVALIERS (0-5): Cleveland is trying to find its offense without James around to dominate the ball and watched the reserves take a step forward on that end of the floor Thursday. Korver led the team with 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting in 22 minutes off the bench while fellow reserves Jordan Clarkson (18), Collin Sexton (14) and Larry Nance Jr. (11) each reached double figures. Sexton, who was taken with the No. 8 overall pick in last June’s draft, is showing some encouraging signs early in his rookie campaign and handed out a season-high five assists on Thursday while scoring in double figures for the third time in the last four contests.
