CLEVELAND (AP) The Browns have signed starting cornerback Jamar Taylor to a three-year contract extension.
Financial terms of the deal were not immediately known.
Taylor has made 10 starts in his first season with Cleveland, which acquired him in a trade on draft day with Miami.
The 26-year-old has had 40 tackles (33 solo) and two interceptions so far for the winless Browns, who believe Taylor can be a core player in their rebuild. He missed the Nov. 10 game against Baltimore with a groin injury.
Taylor had been scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in March before reaching the deal.
A second-round pick in 2013 from Boise State, Taylor had only nine starts in three seasons with the Dolphins.
The Browns (0-12) host the Cincinnati Bengals (4-7-1) on Sunday.
