Carolina Panthers to keep training at Wofford College

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) – Wofford College will continue as the summer home of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers.

The team and the school announced a five-year extension on Monday that will keep Panthers at Wofford through 2019. Carolina has trained at Wofford ever since it entered the NFL 20 years ago.

Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson is an alumnus and former football player for Wofford. The school and the team have worked together to build or upgrade several training buildings and practice fields the past two decades.

A statue of Richardson was erected on campus last May.

Carolina Panthers Danny Morrison, a former athletic director and administrator at Wofford, said the team was excited to extend its relationship with the school.
