Chargers rookie OL Forrest Lamp carted off with knee injuryBy GREG BEACHAM

COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) Los Angeles Chargers rookie offensive lineman Forrest Lamp was taken off the field on a cart Wednesday with an apparent knee injury.

Lamp was hurt during the Chargers’ fourth workout of training camp. The injury was an unwelcome sight for a franchise that struggled with inordinate injury problems over the past two seasons in San Diego.

Los Angeles already is without first-round pick Mike Williams, who won’t practice in training camp after hurting his back during the offseason workout program.

Chargers coach Anthony Lynn had no immediate updates on the condition of Lamp, a second-round pick out of Western Kentucky. Lamp got off the cart and walked into the Chargers’ medical tent, but was favoring one leg.

”We hope he’s OK,” Lynn said. ”He was playing so well.”

Lamp is expected to play guard for Los Angeles. He was the 38th overall pick this year after serving as Hilltoppers’ starting left tackle for nearly every game of his four-year college career.

Along with third-round pick Dan Feeney and free-agent signee Russell Okung, Lamp is a key factor in the rebuild of the Chargers’ offensive line after a rough season in 2016.

The Chargers finished last season with 26 players on injured reserve, but still finished in the top 10 in scoring. Los Angeles is counting on a bounce-back season built on an offense loaded with healthy playmakers.
