Irsay delivers clear message to Colts at minicamp workout

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Colts owner Jim Irsay sent a loud, clear message to his team Wednesday night. He wants to hang another Super Bowl banner inside Lucas Oil Stadium.

On an evening Indianapolis opened minicamp practice to the public, Irsay gave an impassioned speech to his team before handing a diamond-encrusted watch to outside linebacker Robert Mathis – an honor for Mathis’ league sacks title in 2013.

But the implications go way beyond Mathis.

After practice, Pro Bowl safety Mike Adams explained that Irsay’s expectations are no different than the players’ themselves.

Tight end Dwayne Allen gave the Colts a scare when he landed on the ground near the goal line and started grabbing his left leg. He took a short break, then returned to practice.
