FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) The New York Jets have placed rookie offensive lineman Chuma Edoga and wide receiver Jeff Smith on season-ending injured reserve.
The moves Tuesday give the Jets 18 players currently on IR in what has been an injury-filled season for the franchise.
New York also signed wide receiver Keon Hatcher to the practice squad, replacing center Ryan Crozier who was released.
Edoga was the the Jets’ third-round pick this year and started eight games, including five at right tackle and three at left tackle. He hasn’t played since injuring a knee in Week 12 against Oakland.
Smith made his NFL debut last Thursday night at Baltimore and had a 12-yard catch, but sprained an ankle during New York’s loss. The undrafted free agent out of Boston College spent most of the season on the practice squad after impressing during training camp.
Hatcher was most recently with Green Bay, which released him on Oct. 31. He has also spent tme with Detroit and Oakland since going undrafted in 2017. He has one career catch for 8 yards in three games – all last season with the Raiders.
Crozier was signed to New York’s practice squad last month after spending training camp with Denver.
