Orchard Park, NY – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers built a big halftime lead behind touchdowns from Doug Martin and Mike Evans and held on to beat the Buffalo Bills 27-14 on Saturday Josh McCown passed for 112 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the first half as the Buccaneers got their first win in three preseason games. Evans had three catches for 44 yards and a touchdown one day after a video surfaced showing the wide receiver in a brawl outside a Miami-area nightclub. Martin had 12 carries for 38 yards and Mike Glennon completed five of his seven passes for 44 yards in the second half. EJ Manuel played three quarters for the Bills and passed for 198 yards and a touchdown but also turned the ball over twice on a fumble and an interception. Buffalo played without rookie wide receiver Sammy Watkins (ribs) and lost for the third time in four preseason games.

Atlanta, GA – Bishop Sankey ran for the go-ahead score late in the fourth quarter as the Tennessee Titans defeated the Atlanta Falcons, 24-17, in preseason action on Saturday. The rookie Sankey carried the ball 16 times for 44 yards. Jake Locker was 12- of-17 for 188 yards and fired a 63-yard TD pass to Nate Washington, who had three receptions for 94 yards for Tennessee. Matt Ryan was 18-of-23 for 224 yards and two touchdowns. Julio Jones hauled in a 52-yard touchdown pass and Devin Hester brought in a 31-yard TD pass to highlight his four-reception, 56-yard effort for Atlanta.

Miami, FL – Orleans Darkwa scored a 1-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter to give the Miami Dolphins a 25-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys in preseason action on Saturday. With Dallas ahead by two in the fourth, Tyler Patmon intercepted Matt Moore and returned it nine yards for a touchdown to increase the visitor’s cushion. Moore made up for the miscue, however, hooking up with Harold Hoskins for a 27-yard touchdown to cap a 5- play, 89-yard drive that took all of 1:37. Darkwa hauled in a pass from Moore to complete the two-point conversion and cut the deficit to 20-19 with 5:40 to play. The Cowboys went three-and-out on their next touch, then Moore orchestrated a 12-play, 55-yard drive thanks to three costly penalties by Dallas. Darkwa plunged in from a yard out with 1:48 to play. Miami failed on the two-point conversion attempt.

Baltimore, MD – Joe Flacco completed 16-of-23 passes and threw for 180 yards and a touchdown as the Baltimore Ravens defeated the Washington Redskins, 23-17, in preseason action on Saturday. Steve Smith hauled in six balls for 80 yards and a touchdown, while Tyrod Taylor went 6- of-9 for 65 yards and a score and also rushed for 35 yards. Justin Tucker kicked three field goals in the win. Robert Griffin III went just 5-of-8 for 20 yards and an interception, while Kirk Cousins threw for 122 yards on 14- of-20 efficiency with touchdowns to Santana Moss and Nick Williams in the setback.

Cleveland, OH – St. Louis beat Cleveland 33-14, but the big story Saturday was that Rams quarterback Sam Bradford left the preseason game after reinjuring his surgically repaired left knee. Bradford went down on the game’s opening drive after throwing an incomplete pass. He was pressured and hit high by Browns defensive lineman Armonty Bryant. The former No. 1 overall draft pick missed the Rams’ final nine games last season after tearing the ACL in the same knee. Bradford, who will undergo more tests Sunday, completed 4-of-9 passes for 77 yards before departing. Named the Browns’ starting quarterback over rookie Johnny Manziel to begin the season, Brian Hoyer had only 84 yards passing while playing into the third quarter. He did throw a touchdown pass to Andrew Hawkins, but he was also intercepted once and lost a fumble on a sack. Manziel passed for 85 yards and ran for a touchdown, and was sacked by rookie defensive end Michael Sam.

Indianapolis, IN – Drew Brees passed for 128 yards and two touchdowns on 9-of-15 efficiency as New Orleans outlasted Indianapolis, 23-17, in exhibition action on Saturday. Mark Ingram totaled 46 yards on eight carries, Pierre Thomas added 66 yards on four grabs, while Marques Colston and Austin Johnson contributed a TD reception each for the Saints, who improved to 3-0 in the preseason. Ryan Griffin and Luke McCown combined to go 11-of-23 for 91 yards and one interception. Andrew Luck and Chandler Harnish each produced a TD pass for the Colts, who dropped to 0-3. Luck started and was 10-of-18 for 103 yards with a pick for the hosts.

Kansas City, MO – Matt Cassel and Teddy Bridgewater combined to throw three touchdown passes and the Minnesota Vikings remained unbeaten in the preseason with a 30-12 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday. Cassel played into the third quarter, completing nine of his 17 passes for 152 yards with one touchdown and one interception as the Vikings won their third straight. Two of Bridgewater’s four completions were touchdown passes to Allen Reisner in the third quarter. Alex Smith also played into the third quarter for the Chiefs, who have dropped their last two games. He completed 14-of-24 passes for 140 yards with two interceptions. Cassel threw a 53-yard touchdown pass to Cordarrelle Patterson in the first quarter.

Denver, CO – Tom Savage’s 31-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Griffin in the closing minute gave the Houston Texans an 18-17 win over the Denver Broncos in preseason action. Houston trailed by a touchdown with time winding down in the fourth quarter when Savage led the game-winning drive. On 4th-and-3 at their own 46, Savage completed a 15-yard pass to Travis Labhart. Two plays later, Savage found Griffin for the touchdown, then converted a two- point conversion with a pass to Labhart. Ryan Fitzpatrick went 10-for-17 for 80 yards and Jonathan Grimes scored a rushing touchdown in the win. Emmanuel Sanders caught five passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns in the setback, while Peyton Manning threw for 243 yards on 21-of-27 passing with two scores and an interception.

Detroit, MI – George Winn’s 1-yard touchdown run with 7:12 remaining lifted the Detroit Lions over the Jacksonville Jaguars, 13-12, in the third preseason game for both teams. Reggie Bush recorded an 86-yard TD run in the first quarter for the Lions, who won despite committing 15 penalties for 131 yards. Matthew Stafford, who played into the third quarter, completed 10-of-16 passes for 98 yards and an interception. Chad Henne got the start and completed 9-of-14 passes for 70 yards for the Jaguars. Rookie Blake Bortles continued to shine in the preseason, connecting on 10-of-16 passes for 158 yards and a touchdown. Rookie wide receiver Allen Hurns caught seven passes for 113 yards and a score.

Foxboro, MA – Tom Brady threw two touchdown passes to Shane Vereen as the New England Patriots beat the Carolina Panthers, 30-7, in preseason action. Brady completed 17-of-21 passes for 204 yards while playing into the third quarter. He connected with Vereen for scores of 40 and six yards. Carolina quarterback Cam Newton remained in the game until the third quarter and finished 8-of-12 for 88 yards.

East Rutherford, NJ – Ryan Nassib threw three touchdown passes and the New York Giants rallied past their crosstown rival Jets, 35-24, on Friday in preseason action. Nassib went 8-for-12 with 103 yards in relief of Eli Manning, who was under center for the Giants in the first half and completed 12-of-21 passes for 139 yards and a touchdown. Rashad Jennings gained 67 yards on 13 carries for the G-Men while Victor Cruz picked up 61 yards through the air on four receptions. All three quarterbacks who played for the Jets threw a TD, while the trio combined to connect on 22-of-33 passes. Geno Smith threw for 137 yards, Michael Vick picked up 35 and Matt Simms had 106.

Green Bay, WI – Aaron Rodgers threw two touchdown passes to lead the Green Bay Packers to a 31-21 preseason victory over the Oakland Raiders on Friday. Rodgers went 9-of-20 for 139 yards, Scott Tolzien threw for 107 yards and a touchdown and Matt Flynn was 4-of-10 for 37 yards and an interception. Eddie Lacy ran for 36 yards and a touchdown and DuJuan Harris rushed for 56 yards and had 42 receiving yards. Oakland starter Matt Schaub completed 13 of his 27 passes for 110 yards, while Matt McGloin finished 10- of-17 for 162 yards and two touchdowns. Brice Butler caught two scores and Maurice Jones-Drew rushed for 45 yards a touchdown.

Seattle, WA – Russell Wilson and the Seahawks were in midseason form Friday as Seattle crushed the Chicago Bears, 34-6, in the third preseason game for both clubs. Wilson threw two touchdown passes and ran for another in leading the Seahawks to points on all five of his drives in the first half. The third-year pro completed 15-of-20 passes for 202 yards and connected with Jermaine Kearse and backup running back Christine Michael for scores. Marshawn Lynch ran for a touchdown, Kearse finished with 63 yards on four catches and Steven Hauschka kicked a 59-yard field goal in the rout. Jay Cutler and Chicago’s starters were decidedly less impressive in their only half of action. Cutler tossed for 157 yards on 12-of-20 passes, while Matt Forte was limited to 17 yards on three carries.

Philadelphia, PA – LeSean McCoy and Darren Sproles scored touchdowns in the first half and the Philadelphia Eagles grabbed a 31-21 preseason victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday. McCoy caught a 22-yard score in the first half, but the team got a bit of a scare as he exited the game with a thumb injury. X-rays taken on the thumb, though, came back negative. Nick Foles ran the first-team offense for the first half and led the team on three scoring drives, going 19-for-29 for 179 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Jeremy Maclin and Riley Cooper were together on the field for the first time in the preseason and combined for nine catches for 68 yards as the Eagles won for the first time in the preseason after dropping their first two games. Ben Roethlisberger played into the third quarter and finished the game 15-for-24 for 157 yards, one touchdown and one interception for the Steelers, who are 1-2 on the preseason. The Pittsburgh running back tandem of Le’Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount played and combined for 16 carries and 55 yards, along with four catches for 17 yards. Bell and Blount were arrested on Wednesday for marijuana possession, along with a female friend, after the car Bell was driving to the airport was pulled over and the officer smelled the scent of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Also, Bell was taken to a local hospital for a blood test to see if he was driving under the influence.
