Sheppard re-signs with Dolphins; tender placed on Shelby

MIAMI (AP) – Linebacker Kelvin Sheppard has re-signed with the Miami Dolphins after playing mostly on special teams last year.

The Dolphins also placed a one-year, $2.4 million second-round tender on defensive lineman Derrick Shelby on Tuesday, making it likely he’ll remain with the team.

Sheppard, a four-year veteran, played in 14 games last season with one start. Shelby, a three-year veteran, played in 15 games as a reserve and had three sacks.
