Barkov scores 2 goals to lead Panthers past Canadiens 3-1

SUNRISE, Florida (AP) Aleksander Barkov had two goals and Jaromir Jagr scored the 733rd of his career to lead the Florida Panthers past the Montreal Canadiens 3-1 on Tuesday night for their seventh straight victory.

Roberto Luongo stopped 27 shots and the Panthers leapfrogged Montreal for first place in the Atlantic Division. The winning streak is their longest since March 2008 and it matches the franchise record.

Max Pacioretty scored for Montreal, but the slumping Canadiens have lost seven of their past eight games and 11 of 13.

Ben Scrivens made 27 saves in his first NHL action since April 11 last season. Montreal acquired him from Edmonton on Monday.

Chicago’s Patrick Kane scored a goal, assisted on two others and raised his NHL-leading point total to 53 in helping the Blackhawks beat the Arizona Coyotes 7-5.

Andrew Desjardins scored twice for the Blackhawks, who overcame Shane Doan’s hat trick and set a season high for goals in a game.

Artem Anisimov scored his 13th of the season, Brent Seabrook had two assists and Duncan Keith added a goal and an assist for Chicago.

Doan scored three times for the Coyotes, tying Dale Hawerchuk for the club record with 379 career goals.

In Columbus, Ohio, Nick Foligno and Brandon Dubinsky each had three assists as the last-place Blue Jackets beat the NHL-best Dallas Stars 6-3.

Boone Jenner, Kevin Connauton, Matt Calvert, Brandon Saad, Scott Hartnell and Rene Bourque scored for Columbus, which had lost three straight and eight of 10 – prompting coach John Tortorella to call out his team over the past several days.

Curtis McElhinney made 39 saves, and 11 players had at least one point for the Blue Jackets.

The Boston Bruins downed the Ottawa Senators 7-3 to end a three-game losing streak after Jimmy Hayes scored three goals, and Patrice Bergeron and Matt Beleskey had two each.

Torey Krug and Loui Eriksson each had two assists for the Bruins.

Tuukka Rask made 29 saves, including 12 in the third period as the Bruins held off the Senators.

John Tavares was one of six New York Islanders players to score in a 6-3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs for a split in the home-and-away series, while New Jersey’s David Schlemko scored the tiebreaking goal with 3:05 left in the third period and gibe the Devils a 3-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes.

In other games, Alexander Steen scored 4:01 into overtime to give the St. Louis Blues a 4-3 win over the Nashville Predators, the Winnipeg Jets defeated the Detroit Red Wings 4-1, the Los Angeles Kings downed the Edmonton Oilers 5-2 and the Anaheim Ducks blanked the Calgary Flames 1-0.
