Ducks win 4-3 after shootout against Blues

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) Anaheim’s Ryan Getzlaf netted the deciding goal in the fourth round of the shootout to give the Ducks a 4-3 win against St. Louis on Friday, making it 10 successive home victories over the Blues.

The victory vaulted the Ducks from fifth to third in the NHL’s Pacific Division, while the Blues drifted back in the Central behind second-placed Chicago, which defeated Buffalo.

Among other results, Boston notched the 3,000th win in franchise history by winning at New Jersey.

Anaheim’s Ryan Kesler tied the game on a power play early in the third period with his second goal of the night, while Corey Perry also scored for the Ducks.

Ryan Reaves, Troy Brouwer and Robby Fabbri scored for the Blues, who have lost five in a row (0-2-3) for the first time since dropping their final six of the 2013-14 season.

They were coming off back-to-back overtime losses to Ottawa and Colorado in which they squandered two-goal leads in both games – and did it again against the Ducks.

Boston rookie Frank Vatrano scored early to lay the foundation for the Bruins 4-1 win at New Jersey.

Jonas Gustavsson made 19 saves while Ryan Spooner, Jimmy Hayes and Colin Miller also scored for the Bruins, who were beginning a five-game road trip.

Chicago notched its sixth straight win by beating Buffalo 3-1.

Phillip Danault scored his first NHL goal, and Niklas Hjalmarsson and Jonathan Toews also scored for Chicago,

Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford made 28 saves to extend his perfect career record against the Sabres to seven games. The Blackhawks have won their past nine against them.

Ryan O’Reilly had Buffalo’s only goal in the Sabres’ sixth consecutive loss.

Colorado’s Tyson Barrie put Colorado ahead midway through the third period and the Avalanche went on to beat Nashville 5-3.

Tampa came from two goals down and scored three goals in the third period to win 3-2 at Edmonton.

Carolina’s Elias Lindholm scored twice to lead the Hurricanes past Columbus 4-1.
