NEW YORK (AP) The New York Islanders sent league-leading Dallas to its first back-to-back losses of the season, winning 6-5 on Sunday, led by two goals and an assist from Kyle Okposo.
Also Sunday, Florida stretched its winning streak to nine by beating Minnesota 2-1.
New York’s Cal Clutterbuck scored twice, Anders Lee had a goal and an assist and Mikhail Grabovski also scored for the Islanders, who are 4-0-1 in their past five against the high-flying Stars.
New York trailed 2-1 in the first period before scoring the next four goals and then held off Dallas in the third to improve to 12-4-1 against Western Conference teams.
Valeri Nichushkin had two goals for Dallas while Vernon Fiddler, Patrick Sharp and Jason Spezza also scored.
Florida’s Jaromir Jagr scored both goals for the streaking Panthers in the 2-1 win against Minnesota.
The victory was not only their ninth in a row but the seventh straight at home, both franchise records.
The 43-year-old Jagr has 735 goals, six behind Brett Hull for third on the league’s career list.
