Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang signed with SKA Saint Petersburg of the KHL on Friday, the team announced on its website.
Letang, who likely will play for the team Sunday, joins a roster that includes Ilya Kovalchuk, Vladimir Tarasenko and Sergei Bobrovsky.
The NHL lockout reached its 111th day Friday as the league and union met separately with a mediator.
Letang, 25, had 10 goals and 32 assists for the Penguins last season. He is a two-time All-Star and won the Stanley Cup with Pittsburgh in 2009, his second full NHL season.
