NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Pittsburgh forward Sidney Crosby now is joining teammate Evgeni Malkin in missing the NHL All-Star Game because of injuries with Predators rookie Filip Forsberg added to the game being played Sunday.
Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford announced Thursday that Crosby will miss the game with a lower-body injury.
Crosby has played with the injury but needs a week to heal up. Missing the All-Star Game means Crosby will not be allowed to play Tuesday against Winnipeg. This was to be only the second All-Star Game in the past 10 years for Crosby, who now will miss his fifth straight.
The league announced Forsberg’s addition Thursday, with the news coming on the heels of the Penguins announcing that Malkin will not be able to play due to his own lower-body injury.
