NEW YORK (AP) The New York Rangers returned to the top of the NHL Metropolitan Division with a 4-1 win against Ottawa on Sunday, with Derick Brassard scoring twice.
The Rangers moved a point above Washington, but the Capitals have three games in hand.
Another divisional leader, Los Angeles, boosted its lead in the Pacific with a 3-1 win against Tampa Bay, while New Jersey ended Florida’s road winning streak.
New York goaltender Henrik Lundqvist stopped 23 shots while Ryan McDonagh and Jesper Fast scored for the Rangers.
Marc Methot scored for Ottawa.
Los Angeles extended its home winning streak to six by beating Tampa Bay 3-1.
